The role of the Bus Assistant volunteer is vital in creating a sense of wellbeing, connection and community for seniors and veterans.

Main Tasks:

• Provide support during the bus outings, assisting residents, talking to them, building connections
• Remind residents to fasten their seat belts and offer assistance if appropriate
• Assist frail residents on and off the bus by following the instructions from the staff and manual handling guidance

Personal Qualities:

• Have patience, kindness and empathy for mature aged people
• Great interpersonal skills and ability to make personal connections with people from different backgrounds
• Be reliable, flexible and committed
