State & Territory Network Coordinator

Community Gardens Australia

CGA’s network of State & Territory Coordinators and Regional Representatives gives the management committee and broader organisation a clear picture of what is happening in community gardens across the country, illuminating current issues, required resources, local funding availability, and upcoming activities. The network also serves to relay information from CGA to each state, territory, and region.

The State & Territory Network Coordinator is responsible for managing and liaising with the State & Territory Coordinators and Regional Representatives to ensure the smooth running of this network, for providing regular feedback to the management committee on the status of the network, and for identifying any issues that may require the management committee’s attention. They will also manage the organisation’s register of volunteers and ensure all inductions are completed and on/offboarding processes acquitted.

The State & Territory Network Coordinator must use their exceptional organisational and communication skills to manage CGA’s growing cohort of State & Territory Coordinators and Regional Representatives, widely spread across the country.

The role entails the following:

  • Inducting and on/offboarding of all volunteers for the organisation and maintaining register of volunteers
  • Training new State & Territory Coordinators and Regional Representatives, with management committee support and assisting with recruitment where required
  • Facilitating monthly online social gatherings of State & Territory Coordinators and Regional Representatives. These gatherings give members of the network an opportunity to catch up and socialise with CGA colleagues.
  • Liaising either individually or as a group with the State & Territory Coordinators via email, phone, and/ or video conferencing.
  • Filing a report on the status and current activities of the network with the Committee Member for State and Territory Network Liaison.
  • Ensuring effective communication between State & Territory Coordinators, Regional Representatives, and the management committee.
  • Attending State & Territory Coordinator meetings with Regional Representatives where possible.
  • Assisting the management committee with preparation for quarterly gatherings of State & Territory Coordinators and Regional Representatives. These gatherings encourage knowledge sharing, provide education, and keep everyone informed about what is happening with CGA. They also provide the management committee with the opportunity to receive feedback directly from the network.
  • Responding to CGA-related emails in a timely manner.

This is a voluntary, unpaid position with an approximate time commitment of 10 hours per month, ongoing. Occasionally a little extra time is required. All CGA positions are performed remotely and the State & Territory Network Coordinator will communicate with their CGA colleagues via email, phone, and video conferencing. The State & Territory Network Coordinator will need to supply and use their own device/s while undertaking this position.
