The program

Having good social connections are essential for all aspects of health, especially as we age. Red Cross supports older people who live alone or who have few social connections, people with disability and people recovering from mental illness to help improve their wellbeing.

Red Cross provides a door to door transport service for people who are elderly or have disability and have no means of transport to non-urgent medical appointments or social outings.

The opportunity

This role suits someone over the age of 18 who has a Full Australian Drivers Licence and can commit to at least one full day per week.

Volunteers will be responsible for following schedules, maintaining a friendly and professional manner and ensuring clients are transported safely to their appointments. Volunteers are responsible for maintaining records of activities and reporting any concerns or issues to Red Cross supervising staff.

As a Client Transport Driver Volunteer, you’ll help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people who are elderly or have disability by connecting them with services in their local community. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
