HammondCare and the Coles Group are working together to improve the quality of life for older Australians, particularly people living with dementia in aged care homes, by providing accessible shopping experiences. People living with dementia strongly report shopping as their favourite activity, providing them with dignity, autonomy, and a sense of meaning and purpose, according to international research.
Shopping for groceries will be enhanced for residents by creating a dementia-friendly experience, including specially designed checkouts, counters and shelving.
As a retail volunteer, you'll assist welcoming people in the store, stocking shelves, tidying up, and serving customers.
We would be happy to discuss with you a suitable time to volunteer.
Volunteering with HammondCare is one way you can give something back to the aged or frail in our society. Not only does volunteering have an impact on the person you spend time with, but you'll learn a lot and meet new people. HammondCare is located at 294 Kooyong Road, Caulfield.
We'll provide training, including dementia training, and ongoing support from an onsite Volunteer Coordinator. Successful applicants will need to be aged 16 years or older, complete a criminal record check as well as an NDIS Worker Screening Check. You'll need to provide evidence of your Covid19 vaccination, and annual flu vaccinations.
When you enquire, please provide information on why you're interested in volunteering.
