support client(s) to actively participate in the group and/or their chosen recreational activity

support clients with daily requirements to encourage and enable participation such as reading documents

perform sighted guide techniques to effectively support clients, volunteers or staff to safely navigate their environment

communicate effectively with clients to understand and respond to their needs by face-to-face, email or telephone

coordinate specific programs or tasks to ensure program requirements are met and completed in a timely manner

complete data recording and other administration tasks to accurately record a service with a client (including reporting requirements) as well as report your volunteering hours

The volunteer may:

provide audio description to individuals who require visual translation during the activity, to ensure clients have a detailed understanding of their surroundings and present environment

facilitate, plan, implement and deliver the group activity (on a regular basis or as required) to support organisation related initiatives, programs or groups

perform hospitality duties by preparing food or refreshments and servicing individuals to ensure requirements and demands are met in a timely and polite manner (if appropriate)

perform money handling/ EFTPOS transaction, donation collection and banking duties, as well as support with any raffle ticket and event sales to ensure all transactions of cash and electronic sales are processed correctly (when required)

be alert to the possibility of theft at all times

support students in a training or coaching environment by reading instructions or guides, taking notes and giving visual translation

be required to attend meetings (if requested) that assist with planning and information provision

he volunteer will demonstrate: Attention to detail Interpersonal skills Teamwork Visual translation skills Working with people who are blind or have low vision

DESIRABLE SKILLS (NOT ESSENTIAL)

The volunteer may have abilities in: Administration skills Customer service skills Emotional support Event coordination skills Good written skills and fluent English speaking Manual handling skills Money handling Time management skills Leadership skills Working with minimal supervision
