The program
Red Cross provides a door to door transport service for people who are elderly or have disability and have no means of transport to non-urgent medical appointments or social outings.
The opportunity
This role would suit a semi-retired, or retired person who is able to commit to at least one full day per week. The applicant must be over the age of 18 years, have a full Australian drivers licence, and experience working with older people, and people with disabilities.
A Red Cross vehicle is provided for use, and volunteers are responsible for following transport schedules, liaising with transport coordinators, maintaining a friendly and professional manner, and ensuring clients are transported safely to and from their appointments. Volunteers are responsible for maintaining records of activities and reporting any concerns or issues to Red Cross Transport Regional Coordinators.

As a Community Transport volunteer driver, you will help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people who are elderly or have disability by connecting them with services in their local community. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
