We are looking for kind, committed and positive people to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people to reengage and reconnect with their community and to the things they love to do.

Joanne* describes herself as bubbly and outgoing and someone who loves a chat. She enjoys cooking, pottering in the garden, talking to friends and family over the phone and looking after her grandson. She would like a volunteer with whom to take a short walk, grab a take away coffee and return home for a chat.

Her goal is to build up confidence to do other things such as going shopping, stopping at a cafe for a meal or go swimming. She'd like to be connected to a volunteer who is outgoing, friendly, positive and a good listener. The volunteer will need access to a car for occasional community outings. Joanne is available on Tuesdays before 3.30 pm or all day Wednesday.

You will need to have good communications skills and the ability to work independently. As a valued member of social support team you'll have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice to make an impact in your community.
