Writing Fridays Volunteer
Logan City CouncilLogan City Council Libraries runs a program called Writing Fridays which is a a “sit down and write” group where the volunteer writing facilitator uses a timer to keep everyone focused on their writing projects. Participants book into the in-person at Logan Central Library's Hive Central coworking space.
We require volunteers to help facilitate or Writing Fridays sessions. Each Writing Fridays volunteer will facilitate a session on average once per month. Logan residents preferred but not essential.
Volunteers will be required to:
- Assist in the weekly Writing Fridays program, using the Pomodoro Technique as a time management method to assist participants to focus on their individual writing projects
- Encourage participants to network and catch up with other writing participants during the breaks
- Help to promote upcoming author, writing and business events hosted by Logan City Council Libraries
- Assist in special school holiday Writing Fridays events
- Meet and greet guests
- Prepare room layout (optional, and only where applicable)
- If volunteering from home, you will need a device or a computer with a webcam and a microphone
- Ensure all attendees know that they can provide online feedback
- Introduce Writing Fridays guest speakers to audience
- Thank guest speakers to audience
- Encourage participants to provide online feedback.
