St John Ambulance QLD is passionate about helping people keep up to date with first aid needs, whether it be at the workplace or at home. We want to help them stay equipped in all situations.

As a Volunteer Retail Shop Assistant, this role will be working as part of the wider St John team in our new on-site retail stores. Our products range of healthcare products from first aid kits through to equipment and incontinence products.

This role will provide personalized assistance to support customers to view and purchase products, stock preparation, shop presentation, general shop duties and administration. As a volunteer, you will be friendly, positive and enthusiastic and have the ability to work independently and as well as part of a team. You will be a good communicator and have the ability to follow directions. Physically fit and able to stand for long periods of time and lift 10kgs.

• Providing excellent Customer Service

• Knowledgeable about products and services (training given)

• Providing support in sale of products

• Maintaining a high level of presentation of the shop

• Attend relevant training, induction, meetings and orientation

• Act in a professional manner, as ambassador for St John Qld

• Perform all duties in accordance with St John Qld policies, procedures and guidelines

Experience & Skills

• Customer service skills desirable

• Ability to work within a team as well as with minimal supervision

• Willingness to learn other skills eg. EFTPOS

• Understanding of and maintenance of confidentiality

• Experience of working with older people is beneficial
