Please note this is a face-to-face role only, so volunteers will need to be able to work from our Rosebud centre at least one day a week during the Tax Help period.

Southern Peninsula Community Support (SPCS) provides a safety net for the community, supporting those who otherwise often fall through the gaps. We offer a wide range of support including food and material aid, advocacy, negotiation and referral. Most importantly we provide a space where people will feel valued and listened to, fostering trust and connection with our community. We encourage independence and aim to empower people to make positive change in their lives.

Tax Help is one of the many services SPCS provides that have a positive impact on people’s lives. Our Tax Help volunteers assist low income clients with simple tax affairs to lodge their tax online. The program aims to also teach people how to undertake online lodgement themselves, but we do find many people struggle with technology or literacy and need help every year with this task, and they are often very stressed about lodgement of their tax. The role requires patience, a non-judgemental attitude, ability to work with and support a range of people, good organisation skills, attention to detail and a high degree of technological competence. No accountancy or professional tax experience is needed and all training is provided by the ATO.

If you are a compassionate person with excellent communication and teamwork skills, interested in supporting those who are vulnerable and marginalised in our community, we encourage you to apply. For more information on how to apply please email admin@spcsic.org or phone 5986 1285, you will need to register both with the ATO and SPCS for this role.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
