Volunteers needed to collect litter data!

#SeaToSource is an initiative powered by Conservation Volunteers Australia, supporting everyday people to take action on one of the world’s most solvable environmental issues – ocean litter.

We’re committed to reducing the amount of plastic litter entering our creeks, rivers and oceans and reducing harm to the animals that call these places home. Plastic is around 60-95% of the litter in our waterways and oceans and causes a wide range of issues in these environments.

We are working along 8 major waterways around Australia to tackle ocean litter. In TAS, our focus is on the Derwent River and the Tamar Estuary and their surrounding catchments.

So we're calling on the people of Hobart and Launceston to go for a walk of your local areas - this might be your local streets, parks, or even rivers and beaches! - and to pick up litter as you go. With the use of an app called LitterStopper, we are then asking people to record information about litter you find. This will help us to map the type and amount of litter within our catchments and ultimately help to stop it at its source!

We can provide you with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of your volunteering.
