We are looking for kind, committed and positive people to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people to reengage and reconnect with their community and to the things they love to do.

Currently we are looking for a volunteer for Peter* Peter describes himself as friendly with a good sense of humour and a bit of a home body. He enjoys watching AFL football and is an Essendon supporter, he likes listening to music going to the Italian Club and going out for coffee.

In the past he enjoyed dancing and going out to dinner. Peter is looking for a mature volunteer to visit him weekly on either a Thursday or Friday. A typical visit could include going to the shops to do some personal shopping stopping for a coffee in a cafe and having a good chat.

The volunteer will need to have access to a car and be prepared to take Peter out in it. To be successful in this role you will need to have good communications skills and the ability to work independently.

As a valued member of social support team you will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator who will assist you throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice to make an impact in your community.
