Blue Care provides Home Care Package support to our elderly Clients who are still living in their own home. Many of our Clients maximise their package with meeting their physical needs, e.g. nursing assistance, hygiene support, or domestic services. This means that they can be left with limited social support and access to social activities. This is where our wonderful Volunteers come in and fill up that much needed gap!

Your Social Support Volunteer role may involve assisting your Client with grocery shopping, transport to medical appointments, coffee outings, or visits to local galleries and museums. Or, it might look more like companionship time with your Client in their own home and engaging them with shared hobbies and interests, such as arts & craft, games & puzzles, movie watching, technology, reading, gardening, knitting. The options are endless!

You will be carefully matched with a suitable Client who lives close by to yourself, and you will see them weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, depending on your availability and the Client's needs. You will be provided with ongoing training and support in your role.

This role will suit retirees, parents with school-aged children, people needing to fulfill Centrelink requirements, part-time workers, and anyone willing to commit long-term to the program. This role is perfect for anyone who can work independently, and who is incredibly reliable, honest, and trustworthy. You need to have a genuine interest in people, particularly the aged, and be able to easily engage with them in a meaningful and easy-going way.
