We are looking for kind, committed and positive people to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people to reengage and reconnect with their community and to the things they love to do.

Lena* describes herself as an optimist. She is a friendly and positive person. Lena enjoys knitting, crochet and feeding the birds in her garden every day. Lena would prefer a mature female volunteer to visit her at home and share conversation over a cuppa.

Once a rapport is built Lena would like to venture out for a gentle walk or for a trip to the shops to do some personal shopping, therefore a car will be needed for this position. Lena is nervous about meeting new people so the volunteer will need to be patient and reassuring. Lena is available on Tuesday or Wednesdays To be successful in this role you will need to have good communications skills and the ability to work independently.

As a valued member of social support team you will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator who will assist you throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice to make an impact in your community. If you are interested in more information about this role please phone 139375 and quote HB-G-12. *name changed.
