Logo for HammondCare Australia

As a HammondCare Biography Writing volunteer at Braeside Hospital, your listening and writing skills will allow patients to share and record their stories, memories, and messages for loved ones.

These biographies are then printed and presented to the client and/or client’s family.

Ideally, you'll have the following skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • 50 words per minute typing skills
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve
  • Willingness to learn new technology and software. You will be using a Dictaphone and a transcription software program to assist your typing.

This opportunity does require a long term commitment of 12 months or longer and up-to 5 hours per week. The transcription and editing process can occur in the evenings, however the weekly one hour interviews will occur between Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a national police check which HammondCare will organise and pay for. As a Health volunteer, you'll need to be over the age of 18 years and you're also required to meet the immunisation criteria, including Hep B, flu, Covid19 (3 x doses) and a serology blood test. Our Volunteer Coordinator will explain the details with you.

Why HammondCare? Volunteering at HammondCare is a great experience for you, and a great way to make a difference for people in need. You’ll find that as you meet new people, you’ll gain personal satisfaction and have fun.

When you submit your enquiry, please include details on why you're interested in volunteering.

All enquiries welcome.
