Football Coaches - MSFC womens and girls football Club

Objective: The primary purpose of this position is to provide a fair and inclusive environment combined with high quality coaching and training for all players, with the intention of preparing players for relevant competitions/tournaments and to conduct appropriate quality football activities that will enhance the players experience with the club.

Maribyrnong Swifts FC is one of 2 Women’s Soccer clubs across Melbourne. MSFC was developed and exists to provide all women and girls a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment and community to be a valued member of. This value must be at the core of all aspects of our club with one of the most important being our coaching.

In accordance with the Constitution, the Coach is approved by the Committee and has sole responsibility for coaching the identified team and must operate in the best interest of the Club. Ultimately the Coach is responsible to their team and members of the Club. This position is appointed for the term of the season, at which time assessment of ongoing appointment to the role will be undertaken by the Technical Directors.

Responsibilities: Support a positive club coaching culture and enjoyable player experiences. Promote inclusive practice within the coaching at the club. Ensure the preservation of player and member welfare in all circumstances. Present players/parents with relevant information at the start of the season and communicate at regular intervals. Liaise with Club Administrators where applicable. Select and remove players from the team based on participation, performance, and demonstration of the Club’s Values. Determine playing positions. Assist in establishing and implementing training time and frequency. Establishing and implementing training techniques in line with Club expectations. Secure substitute coach when the coach is unable to attend a game/training. Maintain effective communication with the Technical Directors, Team Manager, and the Club Committee regarding team performance and concerns. Work with the Team Manager to organise a pre season social trip, friendly matches, first aid requirements, equipment requirements.

Be ultimately responsible for the team, as well as its associates, regarding the enforcement of all club and team policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. (Repeated conduct issues or violations of the Code of Conduct should be reported to the Club Committee). Be available and prepare thoroughly for Match day, demonstrating improvements of players and team performance throughout the season. Lead by example and assist with the building of the Club culture and community.

Essential Skills: MANDATORY: Hold a valid/or willing to obtain a Working With Children Check prior to commencement. Previous coaching & playing experience (Desirable) Current FFA coaching accreditation or equivalent (Essential) Minimum 2 years coaching experience with players (Desirable) Openness to further training opportunities identified An understanding of quality coaching behaviours required for girls and women (Essential) Well respected within the club/football community Highly developed leadership skills and professional approach Demonstrated ability to engage and relate to players Demonstrated football administration and organisational skills Excellent verbal communication skills Must always be a good ambassador/role model for the club Positive and approachable personality Work well with other coaches towards shared goals and to uphold the club values and culture Support other coaches and accept support toward reaching shared team and club goals Work with the Technical Directors towards overall club direction as stipulated Ability to connect with girls and women to create a harmonious team environment

We are looking for experienced coaches ideally but are also very open to passionate people who are keen to learn and focused on coaching girls and women. We are focusing on providing coaching courses regularly having just delivered a successful Football Federation SAP Skill Training Certificate course at our clubrooms in November 2022.

Female coaches encouraged to apply as this is a big focus for us being a womens and girls football club. We have lead coach and assistant coach roles across our Junior girls and Seniors womens teams: Mini-roos ages 7-11, Juniors aged 12 - 16, Seniors Women State League2,3 and 5.
