As a volunteer with the Community Visitors Scheme you will be making a difference in an older persons life. You will have:

• A genuine empathy towards and understanding of older people
• Good Communication and listening skills
• The ability to work independently
• The ability to be flexible
• A commitment to developing a strong and ongoing relationship with an older person and to the CVS program

What you will be doing:

• Working with older people with or without dementia, or, with a disability
• Being a companion/mentor
• Home visiting (weekly or fortnightly)
• Assisting in participation in recreational activities such as Reading and discussing newspapers/magazines together Play games such as card games, board games or Mah Jong together Do gentle exercise together Calligraphy Have a walk together (depending on the client's ability) Call and chat fortnightly if not able to visit in person share talents.
• Volunteers are required to provide a monthly record of the dates of visits to the supervisor

-Volunteers must be aged over 18 years
