We are looking for kind, committed and positive people to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people to reengage and reconnect with their community and to the things they love to do.

Doreen* was described as a quiet, person who enjoys the company of others. Doreen's memory decline has impacted her interest in things she used to do, and now she spends her days with her dog and going for walks around the block and watching TV. Doreen would prefer a mature female volunteer, who would be comfortable around dogs.

A typical visit will include sharing a conversation over a cup of tea or coffee and going for a walk locally. This role will require a person who is able to work independently and has some understanding of cognitive decline. Doreen is available on Monday, Tuesday or Saturday.

As a valued member of social support team you will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice to make an impact in your community. If you are interested in more information about this role please phone 139375 and quote WM-N-12. * Name has been changed to protect privacy.
