Creative Writing tutors - Canterbury- Bankstown and Greater Western Sydney

Under the guidance of our expert storytelling team, volunteers lead workshops which are designed to literacy, confidence and creativity: essential skills young people need to shape their future. We establish a space where young people feel safe and supported, where they have permission to be creative and where they are excited to write!

We are back in person and online in Term 3, 2022 and on the lookout for amazing creative writing tutors to start soon! The areas we are looking for tutors are in Western and South Western Sydney - Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Liverpool, Cambelltown Cumberland and Canterbury-Bankstown Local Government areas

If you want to know more, we are holding 1 hour information sessions at the following locations:

  • Friday 17th June from 10am-11am at 90 George Street, Parramatta
  • Monday 20th June from 3.30pm-4.40pm via zoom
  • Wednesday 22nd June 12pm-1pm at 176 Redfern Street, Redfern
  • Thursday 12pm-1pm via zoom
  • Monday 27th June 3.30pm-4.30pm via zoom *contact Thuy on 0477 802 552 for details of zoom sessions

Volunteers work with students in small groups to support them to write stories. This could include narrative fiction, poetry, performance script, a radio podcast, short film, memoir, letters, comic strips which Story Factory then publish.

We're looking for volunteers who are kind, patient, have a sense of humour and imagination. Volunteers will have a proficiency in the English language and and can create a safe space for students to feel confident to be creative. We do NOT require you to have teaching or writing skills (although it's great if you do)
