We currently have over a number of ward based vacancies including Ward Assistant roles and roles in our Eat, Walk, Engage program.

Are you an empathetic communicator who can develop rapport and provide companionship? You will be a valued member of the team providing excellent patient care.

Duties include

• Orientate patients and visitors to their room and facilities

• Provide companionship to patients

• Mobilise suitable patients eg. walk the ward or externally if approve

• Engage in activities with patients with direction from an OT or OTA eg. reading a book, playing cards or games

• Run errands for patients e.g. purchase newspaper, toiletries, post mail, laundry

• Assist and escort patients on discharge, use wheelchair if required

Volunteers must be able to commit to the same shift weekly for a minimum period of 4 months.

All Mater Volunteers receive orientation and safety training to ensure your confidence in the role.
