Carringbush is an RTO community adult education provider which aims to increase marginalised CALD community members' access and participation in further education, employment and the broader community. We apply a community development approach to all our education, training and capacity building programs, delivering outreach and partnership programs that meet the needs of the multicultural community residing in Richmond and Collingwood.

Carringbush Adult Education is seeking to fill a vacant position on the board to help provide strategic leadership and governance.

Board members meet in person at the head office in Richmond at least once every 2 months. In addition to sound governance skills and experience, you will be expected to: -Prepare for and attend board and sub-committee meetings (bi-monthly) -Actively participate in strategic planning, the AGM and ad hoc projects as required

Whilst the Carringbush board is not seeking one specific skill set or area of expertise, it would expect that as an applicant, you could demonstrate the following: -The ability to review the organisational strategy through constructive questioning and suggestions as well as the ability to contribute to the effective decision making of the board -The ability to read and comprehend the accounts and financial material presented to the board with a basic level of understanding of financial reporting requirements -An understanding of the responsibilities of their position and ability to contribute to effective risk mitigation -A basic understanding of board governance, although experience on other boards is not mandatory -A willingness to behave independently and with integrity, understanding your duties as a board member, acting ethically and with the organisation's interests in mind. -An ability to meet the fit and proper persons requirements of the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority
