Experienced Program Team Leader supporting children from refugee backgrounds

Australian Refugee Volunteer Inc. (ARV) hold monthly programs and run a range of fun and exciting events for children from a refugee or asylum seeker background. Programs include a variety of developmental and/or recreational activities, such as drama and dance workshops, attending the annual ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ event, a cycling scavenger hunt, ice skating and kayaking.

As we head into 2022, we are seeking experienced program managers to help us run our monthly programs!

We have various roles available across our 4 different programs, Kids (6 to 10 years old), Youth (11-13 years old), Teens (14-18 years old) and Charity (14-18 years old).

The roles include:

  • Program Co-ordintor: is the team leader and is responsible for successfully delivering the excursions each month by leading and supporting the team in fulfilling their duties. The team includes the Events Manager, the Volunteer Manager and Client Manager.
  • Events Manager: responsible for the planning and facilitation of the activities of each monthly excursion
  • Volunteer Manager: responsible for ensuring that we have enough volunteers to support the program each month, that our volunteers have positive experiences at ARV programs and to support them in fulfilling their duties
  • Client Manager: responsible for ensuring that the needs of our clients are being met and for maintaining relationships with our client families

Essential attributes:

  • An interest and commitment to working with children from a refugee or asylum seeker background
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Be reliable and have a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, efficiently and under pressure
  • High energy and enthusiasm to participate in a range of different activities with the program
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments on the day of the program
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to comply with policy and procedures

Experience working with children from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, or CALD groups, is highly regarded. A Working With Children Check and evidence of COVID-19 vaccination is required.

We are seeking a commitment of around two to three hours per week and a minimum of six months in the role.
