The Group61 Community Visitor program aims to enrich the quality of life of isolated older people living in their own homes who may be socially isolated or lonely - whether for social or cultural reasons or due to disability.
We are looking for friendly people who are looking to make a difference in the lives of our community’s seniors just by regularly visiting and being a social friend to individuals living in their own homes in Woolloongabba. In this particular role we have a lovely lady who would like someone to join her on Wednesday mornings for friendly chats. She loves gardening, reading, sewing and listening to music!
Experience with and knowledge of Alzheimer's would be beneficial but not necessary.
In the role of Community Visitor, you will assist in ensuring older people in their own homes remain actively engaged and inspired every day. Quality time shared can include chatting, playing cards or board games, work on a hobby together, or discuss the local news. You might take a walk, grab a coffee, visit bingo, or do some gardening together.
Community Visitors are not involved in providing clinical or personal care to the people they visit.
Group61 is a welcoming and rewarding place to volunteer where you will meet many wonderful people and learn great new skills that may assist you both personally and professionally. There are lots of other benefits to volunteering with us as well, such as:
- Supply and pay for any security checks required for the position
- Great education opportunities
- Free Flu Vaccinations
- Exclusive shopping discounts
- Access to online and face-to-face wellness advisors
- Invitations to social events
- Being part of a team that really is making a difference in the lives of lonely and isolated seniors living in your local community.
This role follows a COVID-19 safe work plan and all volunteers must have both COVID-19 vaccinations.
