Are you interested in raising funds to help save orangutans, other critically endangered species, and the last rainforests of Indonesia?

The Orangutan Project is growing! We're looking for an experienced Team Leader to manage fundraising activities and train volunteers in a new Gold Coast team. Our Fundraising Team Leaders are one of the most important roles to help us grow, and the time to join us is now!

About the role

As the Gold Coast Team Leader, you'll plan and coordinate local fundraising activities such as trivia nights and market stalls, raise awareness about the plight facing orangutans and other Critically Endangered species, and recruit and manage a team of new volunteers. Our Team Leaders play a central role in raising much-needed funds to save orangutans from extinction. The role reports and is supported by the Volunteers Fundraising Manager.

Key tasks of a Team Leader

  • Recruit, train and lead a team of new Fundraising and Events Volunteers
  • Book and set up merchandise stalls at markets and festivals
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events and other activities across Gold Coast
  • Promote local events in order to sell tickets and raise funds
  • Talk to people about the threats facing orangutans and how we're addressing these threats in Sumatra and Borneo
  • Manage, store and transport merchandise and stall equipment
  • Manage and bank the funds raised and maintain associated records
  • Communicate regularly with your volunteers, TOP staff and the Volunteers Fundraising Manager
  • Adhere to TOP's policies, procedures and Code of Conduct

About you

You're passionate about the environment, especially about saving orangutans and other species from extinction, and about protecting the rainforests we all rely on.

You are a proactive self-starter and an excellent communicator who loves getting out and about in your local community. You have time and energy to put into this role, including volunteering on some weekends and evenings.

You have experience in team management and leadership and love creating a sense of team bonding. A good understanding of customer service principles, strong organisational skills, and being able to work in an online environment will also help you be a successful Fundraising Team Leader. You will receive training in aspects such as fundraising, event management and marketing (if required).

This role is a great opportunity to build on your existing skills and experience and contribute to your career goals, while also saving Critically Endangered species. You will receive support and training in any skills you need to develop further.

This is a fun, dynamic role that's full of variety and capacity to grow. If you're looking to use your skills and knowledge with a reputable environmental charity and make a real difference to orangutan conservation, we'd love to hear from you!

If this sounds like you, please apply. After you’ve applied, please send a copy of your resume or brief summary of your experience to apply@orangutan.org.au, which will be sent to you in an automated message.
