Community Support Volunteer

Co-Connect Incorporated

Co-Connect is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic volunteers to provide help and guiding support to community members. Reporting to the Co-Connect Chairperson, the volunteer role will:

  • Deliver small-scale therapeutic recreation or activity programs, such as playing board games, walking, painting, playing musical instruments, reading poems, and listening to opera to engage and provide social interaction for community members who be limited, or do not have opportunities to interact and socialise with others.

  • Provide professional and friendly communications to community members.

  • Able to help with supporting or mentoring individuals to independence, or a greater level of independence.

  • Assist with regularly visiting socially isolated community members.

  • Live out the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct of Co-Connect.

  • Comply with relevant legal requirements and the policies and procedures of Co-Connect.

  • Provide written reports to Co-Connect members on activities and results.

  • Receive an induction and training of the volunteer function and its requirements.

  • Provide a Covid-19 safe service to community members

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be working towards a professional qualification in Counselling, Community Services, Psychology, Health/Nursing, or a similar field.

  • Commit to at least 6 months, to visit the client for at least one hour per fortnight.

  • Possess a warm, caring disposition, then lends itself to genuinely helping others in need.

  • Provide a National Police Clearance.

  • Multilingual is highly regarded.
