LGBTIQA+ "Way Out" program volunteer (one afternoon a month in Woodend)

WayOut promotes the rights, mental health and wellbeing of same sex attracted, intersex, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse (i.e. LGBTIQA+) young people and families in rural Victoria, predominantly in the Macedon Ranges.

WayOut focuses on health promotion, community capacity building and development, youth participation, leadership and design. The model involves young people forming partnerships to implement change in their local communities.

House of Awesome is a fortnightly social support group for LGBTIQA+ young people up to the age of 25, generally attracting adolescents from 13- 21 years old. House of Awesome provides information, activities and referral for participants, and is generally held in person or online. As House of Awesome Volunteer you will undertake duties that include: • Completing volunteer orientation and induction training • Completing volunteer LGBTIQA+ (youth specific) inclusive practice education and training • Supporting the WayOut facilitator to deliver the group once a month (refer details below) • Assisting with set up, pack down, food preparation and supporting a wide range of group activities • Participating in discussions and providing practical assistance to young people in the group
