Social Support Volunteer - Mini Outings

Our Mini Outings Program aim is to assist clients to participate in community life through meeting their need for social contact and accompaniment.

The role of the volunteer is to actively contribute to clients and programs, under the professional direction and guidance of the Social Support Team.

Our Social Outings are a relaxed activity where clients, staff and volunteers chat together, reminisce about old-time and swap stories whilst getting out and about in the community visiting locations such as parks, museums, galleries, local clubs, and shopping centres.

Mini Outings for volunteers start and finish at our office in Ashfield where they met with our Social Support team members, before accompanying them in our 12 seater bus and setting out to collect clients with our door-to-door service. Volunteers must be able to manoeuvre freely in and out of the minibus assisting clients.

Role Responsibilities

Assist the Social Support Worker throughout the day as required Follow direction and assist Qualified Instructors and Host / Venue Employees,

Assist with the transportation of clients form their homes to the outings destinations in accordance with WHS procedures,

Safely support clients moving in and out of the transport in accordance with WHS procedures,

Assist with clients mobility aids (such as walking sticks, frames, crutches, wheelchairs),

Provide companionship and social interaction,

Accompany and encourage clients to engage in activities and conversation,

Ensure a safe, courteous and respectful working environment,

Be consistent with availability,

Maintain a high standard of service to clients in accordance with all other relevant policies and procedures.

Inner West Neighbour Aid has been providing services in our local community since 1992 and has created a community where seniors connect and share their knowledge to lead active, social, and independent lives.
