Mandarin Speaking Treehouse Volunteer - Dementia Support
Central Highlands Rural HealthSupporting Independence The Treehouse is a program that supports people who are living at home with dementia or a palliative condition.
It is a meeting place for people to socialise and take part in activities that promote independence and wellbeing, while providing carers with some time out.
The Treehouse offers a different approach to care, with client driven programs that nourish and engage the whole person. The support makes it easier for people to maintain their roots at home and in the community.
There is valuable knowledge and experience at the core of the Treehouse. Research has proven the positive impact of social support and meaningful activities. Programs are delivered at Kyneton Health by experienced nurses with expertise in dementia, along with partner providers and trained volunteers.
The role of the Treehouse Volunteer is to provide companionship to clients and facilitate or assist with activities.
Key Responsibilities: Spend time visiting individual residents or small groups for companionship Assist staff and/or other volunteers or facilitate activities including: o Board games o Word games o Craft o Exercise and walking groups o Outings o Music and singing o Reading to residents
Peers/Team participation Maintain good communication, and promote harmonious and effective relationships between the staff, other volunteers and clients
