Mentor young people and make a difference.

Vocational Mentoring Exchange

VME/Mentoring Matters is now seeking people from the community to join existing mentors to support and inspire year 11 and 12 students.

Our fabulous mentors come from varied backgrounds: - business people and owners, trades, academics, educators, students etc. What they all have in common is a work history and the desire to share their knowledge and experience with students so that they can gain insight and the confidence to join the workforce or go onto further study.

Often the students supported by the mentors come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have a limited understanding of what is expected by employers and practical things such as recognising one's strength, crystallising career goals and how to job search.

Mentors will be matched with 1-3 students and all mentors and students will meet together each week during class time. Teachers will run the class, and provide all the teaching and learning materials.

Previous experience as a mentor, in a school, or expertise in writing resumes is not required as training will be provided and mentors will be well supported. What we are looking for is people to establish positive support relationships with young people.

Our volunteers relish making a difference and the opportunity to meet other like minded people. The students value hearing about real life work journeys and sometimes just someone who cares enough to listen to their idea, hopes and dreams.

If this person could be you, please express your interest or share this opportunity with someone you know.

We are accepting applications now, and conducting on-line interviews. On-line training late March/April for mentoring from late April - end June (Term 2). If this isn't quite you, we have other volunteer roles available. We will also be looking for mentors for July - September (Term 3).

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
