WomenCan’s mission is to engage the community to fund pioneering discoveries that will enable women with a gynaecological cancer to live better and live longer. We support the peak national research group, ANZGOG by funding their research and education programs to improve life for women with a gynaecological cancer.

7,500 women will receive a gynaecological cancer diagnosis this year alone.

In the lead up to and during ovarian cancer awareness month in February 2022, WomenCan will facilitate ‘Team Teal’ a campaign that activates the harness racing community across Australia and New Zealand to raise funds when a reinswoman crosses the line first across six weeks of the racing calendar.

In the lead up to the Team Teal gala event – Night at the Trots you will provide administrative assistance to the campaign team, including reaching out to suppliers and sponsors to donate silent auction items to add value to the fundraising effort.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Identify and approach suppliers to donate items for the silent auction

  • Record appropriate data for approach eg supplier name, address, email and phone number on an Excel spreadsheet

  • Managing the collation process of donated items

  • Creation of vouchers & posters of the items for use at Night at The Trots

  • Post event procedures - thank you certificates, data recording

  • Ad hoc duties as required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Reliable and trustworthy

  • Prompt to deadlines

  • Can take direction as required

  • Great attention to detail

  • Highly organised and empathetic

  • An understanding of how fundraising events work would be preferred but not essential

  • Able to work remotely, if required due to Covid restrictions

A knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Office, particularly Excel would be advantageous.

You will report to the Fundraising and Development Coordinator who will work with the campaign leads.

WomenCan currently employs a hybrid model of working for its team.
Supervision should be expected, and you can choose to work from our office, a proximity to St Kilda and Toorak roads, on a Wednesday or Thursday or remotely across any available day.

This role will commence in early December 2021 through to completion on 4 March 2022.

We are seeking an eight-hour commitment per week as a minimum.

Through your commitment to this role, you will be contributing to raising funds towards gynaecological cancer research for women across Australia and New Zealand now and into the future.
