We are looking for kind, committed and positive people to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people to reengage and reconnect with their community and to the things they love to do.

Luca has been described as a very traditional Italian man who is charming, proud and friendly. He enjoys going out to the pub for a meal or going to a café for coffee and a chat. In the past Luca used to love to play bocce bowls, lawn bowls, travelling and was very involved in the Italian/Australian club. Luca would prefer an Italian-speaking male volunteer who is a good listener, patient and engaging to visit him weekly.

You will need access to a car for community access, and be comfortable accessing the community with a consumer who has a vision impairment, as Luca is legally blind but does not use any aids. Ideally you will be available once per week in the afternoon on any weekday, and have a valid license. You will use your skills to provide companionship, and support Luca*.

As a valued member of the Social Support team you will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator who we assist you throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confronting injustice to make an impact in your community. If you are interested in this role please call 13 93 75 and quote CB-S-11.
