Experienced Client Manager supporting children from refugee backgrounds

Australian Refugee Volunteer Inc. (ARV) hold monthly programs and run a range of fun and exciting events for children from a refugee or asylum seeker background. Programs include a variety of developmental and/or recreational activities, such as drama and dance workshops, attending the annual ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ event, a cycling scavenger hunt, ice skating and kayaking.

We are seeking an experienced Client Manager to manage all matters related to client welfare.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Obtaining and onboarding new client referrals for ARV programs.
  • Liaising and maintaining relationships with case workers, school counsellors, and other relevant stakeholders who refer clients to ARV.
  • Working with Program Teams to advise on how to manage client behavioural issues, and identifying child safety concerns.
  • Quarterly meetings with Program Teams to identify clients who are ready to graduate to older programs, facilitate the graduation of these clients, and discuss ways of improving overall client engagement.
  • Reporting child safety or child protection issues to the Executive Committee.
  • Attending a monthly admin day (can be every other month).
  • Managing the online client database (e.g. updating details).

Other responsibilities:

  • Liaising with Psychologists to obtain guidance around complex behavioural or child safety issues.
  • Liaising with client’s school counsellors, families, and/or making a referral to an external counsellor/psychologist for client’s with significant mental health or behavioural difficulties.
  • Writing a summary of Client Manager activities for the Annual report (once per year).
  • Staying up-to-date with the changes in NSW child safety law, best practice guidelines and research
  • Updating client engagement, child safety, and behaviour management protocols based on new information

Experience working with children from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, or CALD groups, is highly regarded.

We are seeking a commitment of around two to three hours per week and a minimum of six months in the role.
