Partner with us to enrich the quality of life of seniors who may be socially isolated or lonely.

Aurous Ltd aims to reduce isolation and loneliness in seniors through our social connection programs, including Digital Visiting.

We are seeking volunteers to join our team and provide digital visits with a senior for 1 hour per week, per participant.

How does the program work? Seniors are provided a tablet for the duration of the program and are matched with a volunteer for visits. Each week the volunteer digitally visits their participant via Skype for 1 hour. Visits can be after hours or on weekends, as mutually agreed and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home!

Besides being an excellent communicator (you love a great chat but are also an expert in active listening), patient, understanding, empathy, able to commit to 1 hour per week you will have one or the following interests: Social justice (passionate about or experience working with homeless), hymns, crafts, knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidering, games, movies, animals, nature, meditation, swimming and other sports, good sense of humour and music.

If you don't have any of the above interests, please still apply.

What do I need to do? To become an Aurous Ltd volunteer you must be 18 years old and over (due to insurance), uphold our values, have the right to work/volunteer in Australia, be willing to complete a National Criminal Record Check (we will support you through this process) and must have reliable internet, computer or smart device and must be willing to create a free Skype account.

Please note, upon expressing interest, your will receive an email providing you with a link to register via our website. Please check your junk/spam folder.

Benefits: If you have been wanting to volunteer but don't feel comfortable volunteering face-to-face during the pandemic, have work, study or family commitments and don't have time to commute to a site to volunteer or have been finding it difficult to find a role that can cater for after hours or weekend shifts, then look no further.

We appreciate the investment you make in us and in return, we are committed to investing in you! We do this by:

  • Online induction and training-no need to attend training on site.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Designated Connection Support Officer.
  • Monthly check-in calls with your Connection Support Officer.
  • Virtual volunteer conference.
  • Zoom events and meetings (social, themed events and training).
  • Monthly newsletter.
  • Designated Manager-Volunteer Services.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)-free counselling.
  • Quarterly feedback survey so we can continue to improve and support our volunteers (we do listen to feedback).
  • Volunteer Advocacy Group.
  • Virtual volunteer role-no more commuting to a site and long volunteer shifts. We also offer volunteer shifts after hours and on weeks to fit in with your work, family or study commitments.
  • Volunteer role that lets you donate your time and skills safely and is not impacted by lockdowns or the pandemic. *Minimal time effort but maximum impact. On average, volunteer shifts are 1 hour per week, per participant.
  • Be part of an organisation that has been in the digital space for the past 7 years.
  • Currently commencing our Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Positive, inclusive, and supportive culture.

At Aurous Ltd, we acknowledge and respect Elders past, present and future of the many First Nations language groups as the custodians of the lands on which we work. We acknowledge their stores and traditions and commit to working together to further our mission of connection.
