Friendly visitors program for socially isolated community members

Bridges

Visit a client weekly to have a cuppa and a chat, play a game or go for a short walk which provides them with company and a feeling of being connected with the community.  Become familiar with all Bridges programs and keep up to date with changes.  Recommend Bridges programs to clients. (Where applicable)  Attend relevant training sessions at Bridges as recommended by the Co-ordinator.  Keep in regular contact with the Volunteer & Community Access Co-ordinator and advise of any changes to clients’ circumstances and your commitment or ability to assist.  The confidentiality of both clients and staff is essential.  Provide statistics to coordinator of time spent with each client by the end of the month Guidelines:  Neat casual attire is the accepted form of dress in the office environment.  A non-judgmental attitude and a cheerful disposition are required.  Confidentiality of both clients and staff is essential.  Empathy, listening skills and the ability to speak on a wide range of subjects are necessary.  As a volunteer, you will be regarded as a member of the Bridges staff.

Who will you be working with?  Clients of the program.  The coordinator of the program.  The CEO of Bridges.  Other volunteers and staff at Bridges.
