Volunteer Treasurer on Screen Arts Non Profit Board
Cinespace IncVictorian arts organisation Cinespace is a non-profit incorporated association registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria. Cinespace works in screen arts, supporting emerging filmmakers and screen creators from diverse cultural backgrounds, both at a grass-roots community level, and also as emerging and early-career creatives move toward becoming industry professionals.
Cinespace is seeking an experienced and committed qualified chartered accountant or certified practicing accountant with a passion for the creative arts or film, and ideally with experience in the not-for-profit sector, to join our Committee as Treasurer, pro bono.
This is a voluntary position assuming the Treasurer's portfolio on Cinespace's Committee of management.
Responsibilities and estimate of commitments include:
- oversight of the financial management of Cinespace, developing policies and procedures
- supervising volunteer or paid bookkeeper/s
- ensuring that Cinespace is working within regulatory and legal frameworks and an endorsed financial plan
- oversight of banking and DGR status/public fund sub committee
- engage with other Committee members as needed, attend four committee meetings a year, ensure that other Committee members understand financial information that is being presented and the implications of this information
We are currently based at Footscray Community Arts. We are currently undertaking a transition from a micro organisation that runs project to project, toward a more institutional, systemic & sustainable organisation. We have implemented a MYOB Essentials accounting system, in July 2021, and are GST registered and a registered charity since 2021.
We require a Criminal/Police History check of an applicant for this role.
