The Community Visitors Scheme provides companionship to older aged adults – either in Residential Aged Care Facilities, or in their own homes. The visits can range from sharing a cup of tea, looking at photos, going for short walks (weather & ability permitting), helping the Recipient to participate in group activities (if in an Aged Care Facility) etc. It is purely a companionship to help them feel more connected and less socially isolated. Ideally, we ask Volunteers to visit with their Recipient once a fortnight, or once a week if their schedule allows. As the CVS Coordinator, I do my best to match you up with someone both close to your home and with similar interests.
