Description The role of the auditor or reviewer is to give a professional and independent advice on the organization’s financial statements. The review or audit of an association’s financial report should ensure greater accountability to the members and provide an assurance that all funds received by the organisation have been correctly accounted for. The work will be undertaken in accordance with the Associations Incorporation Act of 2015.

The Act also states that the financial reporting responsibilities of an incorporated association will depend on the tier that it falls into. An association’s tier is determined by its annual revenue which is calculated based on the total amount of money received through the association’s activities during a financial year. The tiers are set as follows: • Tier 1: less than $250,000 in revenue. • Tier 2: over $250,000 but under $1,000,000 in revenue. • Tier 3: $1,000,000 or above in revenue. Usually, Rail Heritage WA falls into Tier 1. Duties & Responsibilities • Develop audit objectives, plans, and scope in consultation with the Management Committee representatives, usually Treasurer and President • Prepare audit / review findings and write reports • Ensure compliance with applicable plans, policies, and standards • Recommend internal audit procedures and risk assessment processes • Ensure accuracy of financial information presented to members
