STAR Community Services are about to launch their exciting new Activities Program in the Redlands and Ipswich! With the support of volunteers, this program will offer seniors the opportunity to connect and engage with others while having some creative fun.

This is a great volunteering opportunity for friendly, creative people who have half a day a week to spare. Successful volunteers will support small groups of 4 to 6 people.

STAR are seeking volunteers who can spare 4 hours or more per week, and who can assist Activity groups with the following:

• assist clients to participate in activities
• help with set up, clean up and pack up of activity venues
• organise materials for activities
• organise morning teas for groups
• chat with and assist clients to participate in activities

Successful applicants will have the following attributes:

• good communication and interpersonal skills
• a positive and friendly attitude
• able to recognise and respect the dignity, privacy, spiritual and cultural needs of clients
• have a caring, compassionate nature
• be willing to undertake training
