Volunteer Bus Drivers
Young Adults Disabled Association Inc(YADA)Duties include
- Driving our clients and volunteers from and to their homes to our centre. *All clients/volunteers live in Liverpool/Fairfield areas.
- Assisting people on and off vehicles as required, including use of wheelchair hoists. Skills/experience
- Bus licenses are up to be up to date and relevant to the YADA vehicle you are driving.
- LR License required to drive our buses.
- Some experience in driving small buses is desired.
- Manual driving experience desired as one of our vehicles is a manual transmission
- Being comfortable working with disabled adults is a must, you need to be a "people person" as the clients need to feel comfortable with the driver. Requirements
- Drive with an awareness of safe practice at all times and adhering to all road safety rules and regulations.
- Provide safe transportation of all passengers at all times.
- Maintain the interior of assigned bus to guarantee a clean and sanitary environment.
- Guarantee the safe loading and unloading of all clients entrusted to your care. -Provide direct/indirect supervision of volunteers/staff and all clients while entrusted to your care.
- Exhibit at all times appropriate role modelling through language, dress, hygiene and expressing appropriate attitudes toward sex, criminal behaviour and the use of drugs.
- All fines received will be the driver’s responsibility.
- Use of drugs or alcohol is prohibited at YADA especially when driving a vehicle.
- Mobile phone usage is not allowed whilst driving, unless Bluetooth is activated, as this can cause serious accidents on the road.
- Report all accidents, incidences, and any mechanical concerns to the Coordinator at YADA as soon as you realise there is an issue.
- At the end of the workday ensure vehicles are left clean and tidy, floors are swept and washed.
- Ensure all buses are refuelled weekly.
