• Are you interested in sharing your personal and professional experience and knowledge of Australian life and experiences with young people aged 16 to 25 from refugee backgrounds? • Our volunteers help young people aged 16 to 25 from refugee backgrounds become more connected to Australian communities and better navigate their resettlement process by assisting with studying English at TAFE and looking for employment and forming connections. • The QPASTT UCan 2 Program runs at Toowoomba TAFE, on Tuesdays for five and half hours a week for 9 weeks in term 4 of the school year. • We also offer a Volunteer Inductions and a Volunteer Debrief session for volunteers that qualify as volunteers for the program. • You do not have to have any specific qualifications. All materials, information and activities are provided and led by the facilitators. If you don't have a Working with Children Check, we can provide you with the paperwork. You will be joining a fun and dynamic group to help with: • contextualised and experiential learning focussing on work skills • psychosocial support to assist with recovery from trauma and settlement in Australia • development of social connections and networks through contact with peer volunteers, work experience • placements and agencies external to TAFE. • access to and engagement in education, training and employment • mental health and wellbeing support • social connections and networks. Are you: • over 18 • interested in sharing cultural experiences and world views • wanting to make a difference in a person from a refugee background’s life as well as your own • proactive, enthusiastic and fun • able to commit to three hours, one afternoon a week
