Isolation is sadly increasing at a rapid rate within the elderly community. This has led St John Qld to search for enthusiastic volunteers to accompany clients to feel supported whilst undertaking social activities. Social Activities include activities such as assisting clients to complete their shopping, go out to lunch or attend appointments such as medical appointments.

We are also looking for fun loving volunteers to accompany small groups of our elderly community on our Social Trip Events. You could be sailing along on a River Cruise one week, doing a tour of a Historical Village the next or going along for High Tea the following month.

Skills required for this role:

Friendly, enthusiastic, passionate about assisting the aging, patient, able to communicate with a varying demographic and be enthusiastic about enabling the aging community to remain social and out and about in the community. No medical or first aid experience is required though would be highly regarded.

Within the role you will not only be accompanying clients to get out and about, but you will also be building relationships and special friendships. The best part about being a part of this team is that you get to enjoy all the fun with them!

Volunteers are not required to pay for Social Trips, do not use their own vehicles for transport of clients and there may be an opportunity of reimbursement for meals/morning teas. *Conditions apply.
