Arid Lands Environment Centre

The Westside Community Garden is a community project of the Arid Lands Environment Centre to establish a community garden in Gillen on the west side of Mparntwe/Alice Springs. Help is needed in establishing the garden.

Duties include, prepare holes for bush tucker and other native plants, plant some vegetable seedlings, make a new hot compost, spread mulch, weed, fertilise and mulch the grape vines, create a new hot compost bay area. Or you can settle in with a herb tea and just enjoy the space. Opportunities to join the committee

Your safety and wellbeing is your priority. Familiarise yourself with the most up-to-date requirements and advice from the Australian and NT and SA State Governments. * As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance). * Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.
