St Vincent's Care

St Vincent's Care Services at Maroochydore are currently seeking kind and generous volunteers to provide invaluable social support to aged residents living with Dementia.

Dementia is a diagnosis that includes a large number of illnesses that cause the decline of neural activity in the brain. This may affect memory, speech, physical coordination and other symptoms. Alzheimer's is a common example of one type of dementia.

The presence of volunteers in our dementia units makes a huge difference for our residents, especially those who may be struggling with loneliness. Simple activities like listening to music, going for a short walk or sharing a cup of tea are treasured by our residents. We think our dementia support volunteers are like gold! Please note, this is a female-specific unit.

During the COVID-19 pandemic volunteers are more important than ever, especially as our residents navigate the difficulties of isolation. Your presence and positivity will be essential. Because the pandemic can bring sudden changes, SCVS will continue to follow the guidance proposed by governing health bodies around the safe inclusion of volunteers at our local facilities. Please be conscious that there may be delays to your recruitment or availability at a facility as a result.
