Organisational background

Big Group Hug is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organisation that supports vulnerable and disadvantaged families in need, by providing new and pre-loved goods to help these families care for their children, aged from newborn to 16-year-old. Our core belief is that all children deserve the best start in life, so for us, the child is the focus of everything we do. Our team is made up of over 300 individuals/volunteers who are determined and committed to assisting every family who asks for help. We receive requests for specific and essential items through Case Workers, Maternal and Child Health Nurses or other professionals in the community.

The role

Our drop off points are an essential part of our volunteer team and act as local collection points for their neighbourhood and local community:

• People in the area interested in donating new or pre-loved goods will contact you and agree on a suitable time to drop them off at your house or business.
• You will collect donations and drop them off at our warehouse in Bundoora at a time that suits you.
• We can collect with our van larger items that don't fit in your car (or you can elect to collect small items only)
• Our warehouse volunteers will sort and pack the items to fill our many requests. Time permitting donations can be sorted and cleaned at your house before delivery (optional).

We offer dedicated volunteer support and we will give you a list of acceptable goods and donation guidelines that you can share with your local donors.
