Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is a volunteer organisation that provides opportunities for people living with disabilities to participate in therapeutic equestrian activities. We have 20-30 riders at our Centre and about 35 volunteers, who provide a safe and well organised environment for both horses and riders and have been operating in Tasmania since 1975.

Our Centre committee can have up to nine (9) committee members and operates under a constitution. The Centre Committee is responsible for the Governance and Management of the Centre. This includes the strategic direction and management of the Centre, including volunteers, horses, premises, financial management and the protection of assets. The committee complies with legal and policy obligations and acts in the best interest of the Centre. The Committee ensures assets are protected and is responsible for appropriate risk management. All committee members are financial members of the Centre and members serve for a minimum of three years (one term) and up to three terms.

We would welcome enquiries from people who have the time and skills to devote to RDA and who are prepared to learn about the organisation and the communities it serves, with the intention of a long-term commitment.

We are looking to recruit one or two additional committee members, in particularly someone with interest to become the Centre Secretary.

A Centre Secretary usually spends 5 – 10 hours per week on their duties, which includes: • Checking and managing the Centre emails and responding or forwarding to the correct person. • Taking minutes at monthly meetings, typing them up and emailing them out. • Typing up and emailing out the agendas for meetings - including seeking agenda items. • Keeping records of correspondence. • Responsible for filing information in an orderly and accessible manner. • Maintaining information for volunteers, riders, parents and carers. • Maintaining volunteer and rider data bases. • Maintaining rider, volunteer and horse files together with the Coaches of the Centre. • Providing riders and volunteers regularly with relevant Centre information, news of events, fundraising, etc. • Performing or delegating other administrative tasks.

If this sound like something you would enjoy to devote your time to, then express your interest today and briefly outline your skills and previous experience. Someone will contact you.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
