This community/home based volunteer program if for patients referred to Palliative Care at the Sydney Children's Hospital Network (SCHN). Our patient population is diverse in culture, religions and languages as well as the geographical areas in and around Sydney where they live. We are therefore interested in reflecting this diversity in our volunteers.

A volunteer is matched with a family who have a child with a life-limiting illness. You will visit the family weekly in their home and get to know your family. The assistance you can provide might be playing with the (well) siblings to give them much needed attention, reading or playing with the patient, providing a listening ear and emotional support to parent/carer, be an extra pair of hands on outings or medical appointments or providing light practical housework at home. These tasks may vary from week to week. Travel will be necessary so a car and licence is required.

Travel will be to the following areas: Liverpool, Cabramatta, Guildford, Bankstown, Parramatta, Penrith, Kellyville, Hornsby, Sutherland, Caringbah, Cronulla.
