Family Support Volunteer

As a family support volunteer, you will help people get their family’s health and well being on track. Red Cross works to build parent's confidence, improve their health and nutrition and link them with friends and community. By supporting vulnerable parents, Red Cross helps them support their children at the most vulnerable and important times of their lives.

Red Cross will ensure you have the training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Tasks

The ideal volunteer loves babies and small children. They are able to assist mum with caring for her baby or babies including supporting her feeding method of choice and be non judgmental in outlook.

Must have an empathetic outlook and is able to provide emotional support to a vulnerable mum. Does include assistance with light house duties e.g. folding washing or meal preparation. Does NOT include house cleaning, transporting family or babysitting in absence of parent.
