Pastoral Care Volunteer - Heathcote

St Vincent's Care
Logo for St Vincent's Care

Pastoral and Spiritual care is an essential and highly valued component of the care provided by St Vincent’s Care Services to its residents. Our Maroochydore facility is currently looking for volunteers to support the Pastoral Care Practitioners Team in providing pastoral support for aged care residents through regular 1:1 visits, talking/listening empathically & sharing in spiritual practices (such as prayer, hymns or Scripture).

For those who are interested, there are also spiritual activities such as rosary, Bible or religious services that you can contribute to and share your gifts in.

Pastoral Care volunteers are required to maintain a personal Catholic or Christian faith and be members of local parish/church. A reference from a senior member of your local church will be required. Pastoral Care Volunteers work under the direction and guidance of the facility’s Pastoral Care Practitioners.

During the COVID-19 pandemic volunteers are more important than ever, especially as our residents navigate the difficulties of isolation. Your presence and positivity will be essential. Because the pandemic can bring sudden changes, SCVS will continue to follow the guidance proposed by governing health bodies around the safe inclusion of volunteers at our local facilities. Please be conscious that there may be delays to your recruitment or availability at a facility as a result.
