About Friends of The Pound Tweed Inc.

Friends of the Pound (Tweed) Inc. provides support to the Tweed Shire Council animal impoundment facility. Our aim is to re-home surrendered, abandoned, or neglected companion animals of the Shire and to build a community of people that treat animals with respect and kindness.

About the Role

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from active community leaders who are keen to volunteer to guide the implementation of our programs and activities that help meet the organisations long-term vision. The Friends of The Pound Management Committee is comprised of senior leaders from diverse backgrounds who can help the CEO guide the organisation as it grows and develops in response to community needs and government requirements.

The Committee Secretary has wide ranging responsibilities. In addition to being an active conduit of communication, the right candidate should be knowledgeable of the organisation's records and related materials, providing advice and resources to the Committee on topics such as governance issues, and amendments to the state laws that will assist them in fulfilling their fiduciary duties. As the custodian of the organisation's records, the Committee Secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and meeting any legal requirements. The primary purpose of the Committee Secretary is to: • Ensure Board compliance for all legal and governance requirements. • Take, prepare, and distribute Board meeting minutes, including motions and votes.

The Right Person

The person will have the highest order of maintaining confidentiality and neutrality in all matters. The person will be required to subscribe to the Objectives of the Friends of The Pound Constitution including knowledge and insight related to animal welfare and protection matters.

You will be an engaging communicator with a strong ability to develop and maintain strong relationships as this position will be required to engage with key internal and external stakeholders on the development of services, coordination of activities, and ensuring sufficient contract requirements are maintained, while supporting the implementation of innovative practices.

You will need to be a dynamic and inspirational leader with excellent people skills and the ability to engage and voice your opinions as a member of the Committee.

The right candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Qualifications in governance, compliance, law, business administration or similar.

Preferred Experience • Experience in Not for Profits, secretary, paralegal or similar roles.
