Fundraising Manager - Are you passionate about supporting a Rare Disease?

PCD Australia

PCD Australia is a not-for-profit registered charity whose main purpose is to promote awareness within the medical and general community about Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD), it's impact and effects on its patients and families.

PCD is an inherited, autosomal recessive condition and is considered a rare disease approx. 1 in 20,000 births. A person impacted by PCD experiences extremely chronic, recurrent infections in the lungs, ears and sinuses due to impaired ciliary in those areas. Frequent infections causes lifelong lung damage and impacts the quality of life for PCD patients. PCD is also associated with reversed organs/organ development abnormality as well as infertility.

We are a small but strong committee dedicated to raising awareness about PCD in the medical community to ensure early diagnosis and establishing a Standards of Care so every patient across Australia has access to consistent treatment no matter where they are situated.

Purpose of Role We are looking for motivated and energetic fundraising manager to help us build our organisation’s fundraising strategy and develop initiatives which will increase awareness for PCD and support our financial goals. You will work alongside a dedicated group of passionate professionals who either have PCD or care for someone with PCD.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop an overall fundraising strategy for PCD Australia in line with our mission, goals and strategic plan.
  2. Develop innovative fundraising initiatives that can be implemented by local state groups
  3. Conduct research on potential fundraising opportunities
  4. Work with our Social Media manager on awareness campaigns that can support our financial fundraising goals.

This is a volunteer position that is able to be performed from home, however must be available for board meetings once per month. The position also requires approximately 1-1.5 hours per week commitment.

Essential skills

  1. Experience in a fundraising role
  2. Passion for building relationships and engaging with supporters/fundraisers and donors
  3. Excellent communication and written skills
  4. Passion for fundraising and volunteering

Our key focus as a Board is to promote early diagnosis and establish a Standards of Care so every PCD patient has access to support and consistent treatment across Australia.
